If you are seeking to have a baptism or marriage at St. Joseph, St. Anselm, or The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, you must contact the Pastor and/or Parish Secretary by visiting the Parish office, calling the office at (308) 872-5809 or by email at stjoescatholic@msn.com.
If you are not a member of one of our three churches, but wish to have your marriage or baptism here, you must first get permission from your pastor at home and provide us evidence in writing that you have his permission. If you are a parishioner wishing to have a baptism or get married elsewhere, you will need to talk to Father Joe to ask his permission before making any arrangements.
Below you can find the most common Sacraments taken outside the normal course of Mass and Faith Formation and the process for receiving them in our Parishes, as well as information for participants in Christian Initiation. If you need more information regarding Baptism or Marriage, please visit their respective pages.
Reconciliation
3:00-3:30pm on Saturdays at St. Joseph in Broken Bow or by appointment at other times.
Baptism
The first step is to contact the Parish Office. The child must have at least one sponsor who is an active, practicing Catholic to be baptized in any Catholic Church. Additionally, our parishes require parents to complete a Baptism Preparation Program. More information and Baptism Registration and Sponsor forms can be found on the Baptism page.
Marriage
The first step is to contact the Parish Office. Couples seeking marriage must inform the priest of their intent to marry at least 4 months prior and must undergo premarital counseling to prepare for the wedding and Catholic marriage. For more details, please visit the Marriage page.
Anointing of the Sick
If you or a loved one is in need or want of the Anointing of the Sick, please stop in the Parish Office or call at (308) 872-5809. If we are not able to answer your call, please leave a voice message with your name and number. If you must communicate your need to us in writing, please make sure to let us know the name of the person in need of the Sacrament, the location that person is in, the urgency of the situation, and general times that would work well for the priest to come and perform the Anointing of the Sick.
Christian Initiation (OCIA) and the Sacraments
Catechumens and Candidates receive their first Sacraments on the Easter Vigil in Broken Bow or in special cases, can instead come into full communion with the Church on Easter Sunday in Anselmo or Sargent. The Sacrament of Confirmation and the first Sacrament of the Eucharist are given at this time, as well as Baptism for the unbaptized.
